Needlepoint by Parish Women of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Raleigh, NC

The artist designed seven altar kneeler cushions by taking symbols from the stained glass windows that she designed for St. Michaels. (See "Stained Glass" page on this website.)

To facilitate the work on the needlepoint, the artist created a book for the ladies of the church to follow. In this book, she included colored pencil renderings, black and white drawings with numbered color designations, and a yarn sample page identifying each color by tag and number. See selected images from this book below.

Each of the seven alter kneeler cushions measures 18” x 47” x 4".
